A Historic Hackathon Originating from Silicon Valley

With its origins in the release of the iPhone in 2007, this DevCamp series carries nearly two decades of hackathon heritage:

  • iPhoneDevCamp (2007 – 2009)
  • iPadDevCamp (2010)
  • iOSDevCamp (2010 – 2013)
  • VisionDevCamp (2024 – 2025) — focused on Apple Vision Pro and visionOS

For 2026, XR VisionDevCamp expands the scope to all XR / AR / VR-capable platforms of the spatial-computing era — Apple Vision Pro, Android XR, Meta Quest, Snap Spectacles, Xreal, HTC, and beyond.

What makes this hackathon distinct from larger events like MIT Reality Hack:

  • Collaboration over competition — teams are encouraged to share code and knowledge.
  • No qualification gate — open to all skill levels, with in-event learning sessions for beginners.
  • Flexible judging — judges may invent new categories on the spot if a project deserves recognition.
  • Team size 1 – 6 — solo teams welcome; large teams discouraged.
  • Mixed-skill team formation — staff actively support new participant team-up.
  • Multi-team participation — you can join more than one team.
  • Public recognition — winners receive social media validation and publicity.
  • Small monetary prizes awarded after judging.
  • Loaner hardware available to participants during the event.
